    Feature and Follow Friday #2

    Hey everyone :)

    This Week's Question:
If you could read a book for the “first time” again, which book would it be? Why?

This is a hard question because there are honestly so many things that I would love to read for the "first time" but I think that the book I would read for the "first time" would have to be Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead because that was the book that got me hooked into reading when I was 10 or 11 and I just fell in love with the whole series. It started my obsession with books so how could it not be haha.

    Highly Anticipated 2014 New Releases

Ok so this year there are many new release's that I want to get my hands on but I have narrowed it down to 10 :) I just have to say that these are in no particular order, they are just random.

Title: The One (The Selection #3)

    Author: Kiera Cass

    Release Date: 6th May

    Publisher: Harper teen

    Synopsis:
The Selection changed the lives of thirty-five girls forever. And now, the time has come for one winner to be chosen.
America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the competition approaches its end and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.  (source: Goodreads synopsis)

Ok so I am quite excited for this one (as I will probably say about all of these haha), we will finally get to see who America chooses and this is the final installment in the trilogy so something big is going to go down. I really like the cover of this and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

Title: The Infinite Sea (The Fifth Wave #2)

    Author: Rick Yancey

    Release Date: 15th May

    Publisher: Putnam juvenile

    Synopsis:
How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity. Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone.
As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.
Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate. (Source: Goodreads synopsis)
So I read The fifth wave about halfway through last year and I absolutely loved it, if you have not read The fifth wave then please go and read it, I am not going to spoil what happened for those who have not read the book but something big happened and it left quite a cliff hanger so I am looking forward to finding out what's going to happen.

Title: The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #3)

    Author: Michelle Hodkin

    Release date: 4th November 2014

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

    Synopsis:
It had to end sometime, but Mara had no idea it would end like this. Experience the mind-blowing conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Mara Dyer trilogy. Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story. (Source: Goodreads synopsis)

Like with The Fifth Wave, The Evolution of Mara Dyer had a big cliff hanger so I am curious as to how this will turn out and whether or not Mara just see's things or if what she see's is real.

    Title: Silver Shadows (Bloodlines #5)

    Author: Richelle Mead

    Release Date: 29th July

    Publisher: Razorbill

    Synopsis:
Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.
Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.
For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .
Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off. (Source: Goodreads synopsis)

If any of you have not read the Vampire Academy series then I recommend you go pick that up then pick up the bloodlines series. In saying that though you do not have to read Vampire Academy to read this series, I just really enjoy both and I think you would understand some of the story a bit better. At the end of The Fiery Heart we are left with a shocking cliff hanger (yet again) and I honestly do not know how Sydney is going to get herself out of this one, only 5 months to wait and see.

Title: Isla and the Happily ever after

    Author: Stephanie Perkins

    Release Date: 14th August 2014

    Publisher: Dutton

    Synopsis:
From the glittering streets of Manhattan to the moonlit rooftops of Paris, falling in love is easy for hopeless dreamer Isla and introspective artist Josh. But as they begin their senior year in France, Isla and Josh are quickly forced to confront the heart-breaking reality that happily-ever-afters aren’t always forever.
Their romantic journey is skilfully intertwined with those of beloved couples Anna and Étienne and Lola and Cricket, whose paths are destined to collide in a sweeping finale certain to please fans old and new.
    (source: Goodreads synopsis)

I've really enjoyed Stephanie Perkins novels Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door so I am highly looking forward to this release.

    Title: Heir of Fire

    Author: Sarah J. Maas

    Release date: 2nd September

    Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Childrens

Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King's Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan's biggest threat - and his own toughest enemy.
While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love?

This third novel in the Throne of Glass sequence, from New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas, is packed with more heart-stopping action, devastating drama and swoonsome romance, and introduces some fierce new heroines to love and hate (Source: Goodreads synopsis )

I am definitely looking forward to this novel, I read the first  two books in early December and I love them, I must buy physical copies. If you are looking for a fast paced suspenseful  YA Fantasy then I suggest that you go and pick this up :)

Disclaimer: yes I am aware that this is not the cover, the cover has not been released yet so I decided to just use the pic of the first novel in the series, I will update this when there is more info.

Title: In the afterlight (book #3 in the Darkest Minds series)

    Author: Alexandra Bracken

    Release date: October 28th 2014

With them is a prisoner: Clancy Gray, son of the president, and one of the few people Ruby has encountered with abilities like hers--someone so dangerous that Ruby alone has any power over him. (Source: goodreads synopsis )

I cannot wait to see what happens in this final installment, if you have not picked up this series I suggest that you go and do it now, Alexandra is an amazing world builder and I fell in love with this from the first page and I cannot explain how excited I am for this one.

      (source: goodreads synopsis )

I picked up Unbreakable with a gift card I got for my birthday for my birthday (which is today but I got the gift card like a week ago) and I had not heard anything about it but I saw it was by Kami Garcia who is  a co-author for the Beautiful Creatures series and I read the description and it sounded pretty good so I got it and I absolutely loved it, It was soooooooo much better than Beautiful Creatures and I am glad that I picked it up and I cannot wait until the next installment.

Title: To All the Boys I've Loved Before
    Author: Jenny Han

    Release date: 22nd April

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

    Synopsis:
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. I found this on goodreads and I have read her summer series, which is one of my favourite trilogy's and if you have not read them yet I suggest that you go and pick them up :) I thought the plot line sounds interesting and I am excited to read it.

    Author:
    Lauren Kate

Teardrop was another one of the books that I got with my gift card and I have had my eye on it for a while and I am so glad that it gave it a shot. I enjoyed Lauren Kate's Fallen series but there were a few things that I didn't like about the books but in saying that they were not bad at all, it was just minor details. When I read Teardrop it grabbed my attention from the start and I think it was so much better written that the fallen series and I cannot wait to find out what happens in the next installment. :)

I hope that you all enjoyed this post and I wish you all Happy Reading!

    Touch Of Power Book Review

Title: Touch of Power (Healers #1)

    Author: Maria V. Snyder

    Pages: 390

    Genre: Fantasy

    Publisher: Mira

    Format: paperback

    Date Released: December 20th 2011

    Synopsis:
20 year old Avry is a healer and she is the last one. After being on the run she is captured and put in a cell to be executed. Healers have a bounty on their head because the people have been led to believe that they caused the plague, refusing to heal them. She then is abducted that night by kerrick and his friends. They then journey to get Avry to the nine mountains to heal prince Ryne from the plague though things do not everything goes to plan. (
    Quotes:
“I remembered my little brother, Allyn, had appeared so innocent and angelic when he slept--similar to Kerrick. It must be a survival tactic. If Allyn hadn't looked so sweet, we would have killed him while he slept. He had been pure evil when he was awake--similar to Kerrick.”

“No," I said. "I'm not safe, Belen. Who is going to tear Kerrick's arm off if he hits me again? Come on," I urged. "Stay with us".”

“Flea stared at us, "I can't decide what's worse. Losing family members or not having a family member to lose.”

“My cheek stung and throbbed. I remained on the floor of the cave. Belen stood between me and Kerrick.
"...temper in check. She's a sweet girl," Belen said.
"She's a healer, Belen. And no longer a girl. Healing Ryne is all I care about. All you should care about, as well. You know-"
"Yes, I know what's at stake." Belen spat the words. "But if you raise your hand to her again, I'll rip your arm from its socket.”

    Review:
I really enjoyed this novel and it wasn't what I was expecting, Maria V. Snyder is one of my favourite authors (I have her study series also) the way that she creates her worlds is very realistic and she makes it feel as though you are there with the characters.
I really enjoyed this and I recommend it to Maria v. Snyder fans or anyone who enjoys a fast paced fantasy. I found Kerrick to be a great leader, Belen was very sweet and he was likeable from the start, Flea was very sweet and innocent but was also an old soul which I liked and then there was the monkey's with their witty banter which I enjoyed. They made the difficult and hard situations more bearable for the charters to endure which I loved.
Oh and how could I forget Tohon, something about him I just didn't like from the start. He was way to cocky, thinking that he could have who and what he wants when it pleases him. I also enjoyed that fact that Avry could defend her self and didn't need someone to fight her battles for her.

    * Spoilers, Please do not read this part of the review if you have not read the book*
Every time Avry healed someone and took on their wounds/pain, I could almost imagine the pain she must go through every time that she heals someone. Avry and Kerrick's relationship was interesting to read and I was happy that the finally admitted their feelings for one another even if I was towards the end.  The only thing I found not so great in the plot was the constant mentioning of Avry having to die in order so save prince Ryne, I think it was pretty obvious there would be a loophole and Avry would live.
    *end of spoilers*
    Overall:
All in all I highly enjoyed this and I recommend it to everyone because I think that Maria v. Snyder is an amazing author and if you haven't read her books then you are definitely missing out. So pick up your copy today!!

    Beautiful Malice Book Review

    Title: Beautiful Malice

    Author: Rebecca James

    Pages: 272

    Genre: Young Adult Fiction/Romance/Mystery/Thriller/Contemporary

    Publisher: Bantam

    Format: Paperback (library copy)

    Date Released: January 1st 2010

    Synopsis:
The story follows a girl named Katherine who is struggling with the death of her sister Rachel. Katherine and Rachel went to a party where they got drunk. Katherine went off with her boyfriend but later finds Rachel in a car with four men completely of her face and not aware of her surroundings, she accepts a ride with them and they get kidnapped and taken to a shed and Rachel gets raped. Katherine manages to escape to find help but when she returns Rachel is dead on the ground. Katherine feels that if she had stayed it would have been different, that she could of saved her so she blames herself for the death.

This was incredibly well written and is one of my favourite novels.
It captivated me from the start and the story will make you cry.
All in all I really enjoyed this and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good book. You will not be disappointed. This was very entertaining and I really need to pick up my own copy. Seriously go pick it up.

*Contains Spoilers Please do not continue reading if you have not read the book*

Katherine was someone who was popular but after Rachel's death she excluded herself from everything and kept to herself. After a couple of years she goes to live with her aunt and enrols in a new school which is where she becomes friends with Alice. Slowly you start to see the changes in Alice and what she is really like. (spoiler alert:) Robbie (who is in love with Alice) after much conflict leaves, and eventually so does Katherine. Katherine falls in love with a guy called mick and it looks as though things are finally turning around in her life. She becomes pregnant with his baby.

Alice was obsessed and scary which is why Katherine left and avoided her afterwards at all costs but Alice somehow found Katherine and wanted to ruin everything.
(spoiler alert:) Alice (the bloody idiot) jumped into the ocean in some stupid reason and mick went in to save her. The waves were to strong and they both drowned.
Never I have I been so mad before. Honestly I really wanted to give Alice a good punch in the face. Not only did she ruin the one thing that had made Katherine so happy she deprived the baby of its father.
Like what kind of person does that! Things were finally looking up in Katherine's life only to have Alice take everything away from her.
ugh Alice made me so mad haha.

When we found out that it was Alice's brother who murdered Rachel well that just really made me angry. Alice knew all along, she was manipulative and ughhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
And when we find out that Alice slept with Robbie's father well that was a surprise! She knew that Robbie was in love with her yet she did something so horrible to him. I hated how she played with his feelings and that was just the biggest low she played.
I was glad that in the end after she has had her daughter Sarah (Katherine's daughter), She surprisingly runs into Robbie and things start to look up again for her with the hint of a relationship in the future between Katherine and Robbie.

My name is Jordan and I am 17 in 10 days and I am on my last year of high school.
Since the age of 11 I have had a passion for reading, I think that the book that I truly fell in love with was Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Ever since then reading has been my guilty pleasure and I basically read whenever I can.

So I've decided to create this blog so that I can share my love of books with you all and express  my thoughts and opinions on what I read and perhaps that might help you find books that you will enjoy.
I am really sorry if this post is all over the place because it is my first and I have yet to figure out what I am doing :)

I am going to be posting at least 1-2 a week so I have a few ideas for post e.g. reviews, upcoming releases, book of the month, books to movies and lots more but if you have any suggestion please leave them in a comment below, it would be much appreciated.
I just wanted to make this a brief intro but if you would like any questions answered about myself you can also leave them in a comment below and later on I can answer them in a post :)

thank you for taking your time to read this and look at my blog.

    Happy reading :) x
