Highly Anticipated 2014 New Releases

Ok so this year there are many new release's that I want to get my hands on but I have narrowed it down to 10 :) I just have to say that these are in no particular order, they are just random.

Title: The One (The Selection #3)

Author: Kiera Cass

Release Date: 6th May

Publisher: Harper teen

Synopsis:
The Selection changed the lives of thirty-five girls forever. And now, the time has come for one winner to be chosen.
America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the competition approaches its end and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.  (source: Goodreads synopsis)

Ok so I am quite excited for this one (as I will probably say about all of these haha), we will finally get to see who America chooses and this is the final installment in the trilogy so something big is going to go down. I really like the cover of this and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

Title: The Infinite Sea (The Fifth Wave #2)

Author: Rick Yancey

Release Date: 15th May

Publisher: Putnam juvenile

Synopsis:
How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity. Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone.
As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.
Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate. (Source: Goodreads synopsis)
So I read The fifth wave about halfway through last year and I absolutely loved it, if you have not read The fifth wave then please go and read it, I am not going to spoil what happened for those who have not read the book but something big happened and it left quite a cliff hanger so I am looking forward to finding out what's going to happen.

Title: The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #3)

Author: Michelle Hodkin

Release date: 4th November 2014

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

Synopsis:
It had to end sometime, but Mara had no idea it would end like this. Experience the mind-blowing conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Mara Dyer trilogy. Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story. (Source: Goodreads synopsis)

Like with The Fifth Wave, The Evolution of Mara Dyer had a big cliff hanger so I am curious as to how this will turn out and whether or not Mara just see's things or if what she see's is real.

Title: Silver Shadows (Bloodlines #5)

Author: Richelle Mead

Release Date: 29th July

Publisher: Razorbill

Synopsis:
Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.
Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.
For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .
Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off. (Source: Goodreads synopsis)

If any of you have not read the Vampire Academy series then I recommend you go pick that up then pick up the bloodlines series. In saying that though you do not have to read Vampire Academy to read this series, I just really enjoy both and I think you would understand some of the story a bit better. At the end of The Fiery Heart we are left with a shocking cliff hanger (yet again) and I honestly do not know how Sydney is going to get herself out of this one, only 5 months to wait and see.

Title: Isla and the Happily ever after

Author: Stephanie Perkins

Release Date: 14th August 2014

Publisher: Dutton

Synopsis:

Their romantic journey is skilfully intertwined with those of beloved couples Anna and Étienne and Lola and Cricket, whose paths are destined to collide in a sweeping finale certain to please fans old and new.

This third novel in the Throne of Glass sequence, from New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas, is packed with more heart-stopping action, devastating drama and swoonsome romance, and introduces some fierce new heroines to love and hate (Source: Goodreads synopsis )

Disclaimer: yes I am aware that this is not the cover, the cover has not been released yet so I decided to just use the pic of the first novel in the series, I will update this when there is more info.

I cannot wait to see what happens in this final installment, if you have not picked up this series I suggest that you go and do it now, Alexandra is an amazing world builder and I fell in love with this from the first page and I cannot explain how excited I am for this one.

I found this on goodreads and I have read her summer series, which is one of my favourite trilogy's and if you have not read them yet I suggest that you go and pick them up :) I thought the plot line sounds interesting and I am excited to read it.

Title: Waterfall (Teardrop #2)

Teardrop was another one of the books that I got with my gift card and I have had my eye on it for a while and I am so glad that it gave it a shot. I enjoyed Lauren Kate's Fallen series but there were a few things that I didn't like about the books but in saying that they were not bad at all, it was just minor details. When I read Teardrop it grabbed my attention from the start and I think it was so much better written that the fallen series and I cannot wait to find out what happens in the next installment. :)

I hope that you all enjoyed this post and I wish you all Happy Reading!

The Maze Runner Review

Title: The Maze Runner

Author: James Dashner

Pages: 371

Genre: Dystopian, Sci-Fi

Publisher: Chicken House

Date Released: January 1st 2009

Format: paperback

Synopsis: The novel is about a boy called Thomas, he wakes up without his memory, only knowing his first name. Thomas is not alone, there are kids who are also in the same situation and have been in the lift.
They all welcome him to the Glade. Nobody knows how or why they were sent here the only thing they know is that they are surrounded by a maze which the doors open to every morning and close at night.
Every month a new boy is sent into the Glade through the lift. They knew that Thomas was coming but what they didn't know was that the next day a girl (the first girl ever) would enter the glade, not only that but she would deliver a message. Thomas struggles to find the answers that his mind will not seek. ( Goodreads synopsis )

Review:
I really enjoyed this a lot. First of all I like how it just plunges straight into the story, it didn't take up the first chapter to explain what was going on, you kind of figured it out along the way.
It starts of with Thomas being totally clueless as to what is going on. He is constantly demanding answers only to get a vague sentence and shut down. The way that Dashner explains their environment is very vivid and I can see everything so clearly in my head. I really enjoyed the world building and the character development. I am very much looking forward to the next instalment and I can't wait to see what happens next.

*Now for the spoiler part of the review, if you do not want to be spoiled please stop reading *
Thomas was constantly saying how he wanted to become a runner so I thought it was quite obvious there would be some way that he would get what he wanted. What I was not expecting was that he would go into that maze after Minho and Alby, he was a pretty brave shuck to do that (haha get it ).
One thing that I found strange was the fact that there were no girls and you don't really realise until the girl (Teresa) comes through the lift with the note but the boys all act as though its not strange?!
honestly you would think they would be wondering why there are only boys in the glade?

I had this theory that the grievers took their victims bodies into the griever hole and got revived but they were not themselves. I then get to the near end of the novel,  the gladers escape and there is Gally (who was dead!) standing there, it made me wonder if my crackpot theory was right.

Gally was almost like a puppet for the scientist,  in that moment I felt sorry for him because even though he was a bit crazy, he did not have the choice in pulling the trigger or not.
When Chuck dodged the bullet for Thomas it shows how much courage and compassion he had. I could feel Thomas's pain for the loss of Chuck, even though he was annoying to him at times, he was still one of his first friends he made at the Glade and he had made him a promise which he could not keep now that he was dead.

*end of spoilers*

Overall:

I recommend this to anyone who loves a good dystopian, Young adult or anyone just looking for a good read because honestly you will not be disappointed it is so good.
If you have not read this yet, seriously go pick it up you will not regret it!
