Synopsis:
Never, ever cry... Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense. Can everything you love be washed away? ( Goodreads Synopsis )
Quotes:
“Wisdom holds a candle to experience, but you've got to take the candle and walk alone.”
“Love was a dance floor where everyone you loved left a mark behind.”
“When he pressed his lips to hers, she was not surprised. It happened the way the sun rose, the way a flower blossomed, the way fain fell from the sky, the way the dead stopped breathing. Naturally. Inevitably.”
“I try to hook you up every day. What's the point of calendars without dates?”
“The last thing we expect others to do, its the last thing they do before we learn we cannot trust them.”
Review:
First of all let me just say, I really love this cover! It's so pretty, the water dress looks amazing!
So I wasn't really sure what to expect when I saw that Lauren Kate had a new series coming out because I enjoyed the first fallen novel but as the series went on it was not as good as I thought it would be, so when I picked this up I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not.
Turns out I liked quite a bit and I found it was written a lot better, it was very different from everything that I have read. I absolutely loved the scene when Eureka meets Ander for the first time, it was too cute! I thought it was really funny that when Eureka went on Brooks boat with the twins, it said it was called Ariel which made me think of the little mermaid hahaha.
Overall:
There were a few unanswered question so I can't wait to read the next installment and find out what Is going to happen. If you have yet to read this then I suggest you do because its really good, I mean it had its flaws but because I liked the story so much it overrode that. I recommend this for anyone who likes a good ya paranormal romance that has a unique story.
